2nd Quarter Maker Project
You are required to submit for grading your 2nd Quarter Maker Project before Wednesday, December 16th. If you like, you can submit your project before that date.
This project is called a Maker Project because it is some thing you will make in our Maker Classroom. This project is what teachers call an open-ended assignment...you have quite literally millions of options for creating and completing your project. However, you will be graded upon universal expectations, which are listed below.

Maker Project Specifics and Timeline
1. Project must be of three-dimensional design, be designed to sit upon a flat surface, and must fit within a 12" x 12" x 12" box. It should be durable enough to endure touching.
2. Project must model and explain how the human brain works without input from student. In other words, Your model is designed to teach someone (who can read) about a human brain. Your model will sit there. You don't have to say anything...the model must do all of the explaining for you.
3. Your model must have detailed explanations that describe the name and the function of at least five (5) and no more than eight (8) parts. The explanation text must be printed, and the printed explanations must fit within the 12 x 12 x 12 space. Any text copied and pasted will not count.
4. Your paper design/pre-build must be ready before the end of class Tuesday, December 8th. A Google document with your printed elements must be shared with Mr. Harrison by Tuesday, December 7th. Your completed Maker Project must be ready for display by the end of class on Wednesday, December 16th.
Maker Project Grading Scale
25% Clarity:
Can the user read what you wrote? Can you model be understood?
25% Creativity:
Did you copy somebody else, or did you invent a unique way of showing your model?
25% Correctness:
Does it conform to the specifics required? Are language conventions correctly used? Is the information true?
25% "Wow" factor:
It is amazing, or does it look like you simply slapped together a last-minute project?
Before You Can Use the Maker Space
Your model must go through the following planning sequence before you can use the Maker Space equipment:
1. A paper design (blueprint) in your hand that shows a plan and a parts list for the completed project. (25 points, Gatekeeper)
2. Individual parts must be gathered and pre-assembled (including the printed elements of your model) before you start putting your project together in class.
3. You must have attended the safety class for the equipment you will be using to build your project.
